Unmarried Biological Father’s Rights

Under Utah Law, unmarried biological fathers need to act early and often to establish a relationship with their child and to accept responsibility for the child in order to ensure their rights.

Utah Code Sections 78B-6-121 and 122 are very instructive and specific in dealing with a biological father’s right to withhold consent to an adoption and should be consulted for more specifics.

It is not the purpose of this blog to go into painstaking detail on what unwed biological fathers must do to preserve their rights.

Suffice it to say that an unmarried biological father needs to make regular attempts early and often to establish a relationship with his child and to show his willingness to support the child.
