Utah’s Medicaid Expansion

On March 25th, Governor Herbert signed into law a Medicaid expansion bill.

The new law will provide $15 million to expand Medicaid for 16,000, including the homeless and mentally ill.

In keeping with Utah’s tradition of self-reliance, Governor Herbert characterized the law as a way to give those in need a hand-up (versus a handout).

Kudos to the governor and legislators who worked hard to on this law. Here is hoping that the bill will serve its intended purpose to help give those in dire need a hand up and give them a sense of expanded opportunity.
