C became entitled to child’s social security insurance benefits based on her parent’s earnings record. Her entitlement ended when she attained age eighteen.

However, she attended school full-time in Athens, Greece from July 1965 through November 1965. Full-time students between the ages of 18 and 22 may qualify for children’s social security benefits on the earnings record of a deceased parent, if other criteria are met. Thus, C applied for re-entitlement to benefits.

The question was whether or not the school in Greece 🇬🇷 qualified as an “educational institution” within the meaning of the social security act.

C demonstrated that there were at least three schools in the District of Columbia which were accredited institutions of learning that would accept credits on an even par basis from the school in Greece. Thus, she was entitled to re-entitlement to benefits for the period of time she attended school in Greece.
